ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi today (Tuesday) reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to continue its efforts for maintaining peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The statement came while talking to an Afghan delegation, led by Chairman of Hizb-e-Wahdat-e-Islami Muhammad Karim Khalili in Islamabad and expressed satisfaction over the progress in the intra-Afghan dialogue. “It provides a unique opportunity to the Afghan leadership that must be seized for peace in Afghanistan,” he added.
Shah Mahmood regretted that India was acting as a spoiler in Afghanistan, adding that Pakistan has presented irrefutable evidence in this regard before the world community.
Informing the delegation about Pakistan’s new visa policy to facilitate the Afghans, Qureshi stated that Pakistan is taking concrete steps for the promotion of bilateral relations between the two countries. He added Pakistan desires early but dignified return of the Afghan refugees to their homeland.
During the occasion, Muhammad Karim Khalili commended Pakistan’s facilitation role in the Afghan peace process. He also thanked Pakistani leadership and people for hosting the Afghan refugees over the last many decades.
