FM Qureshi discusses PIA flight ban with Danish counterpart

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has held a video conference with Danish counterpart Jeppe Kofod and conveyed concern on temporary suspension of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flights into Denmark.
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has decided to ban all flights into Europe and onwards towards United Kingdom after it emerged that 262 pilots of the national flag carrier have fake or dubious licences.
The foreign minister underlined that all necessary steps are being taken by Pakistan to ensure the highest level of flight safety in PIA operations.
During the conversation, Qureshi stressed on the need to review the decision. He hope that Pakistani nationals would not be subjected to any restrictions or discrimination when travel restrictions were relaxed by Denmark.

Earlier Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi discussed the matter and stressed on reviewing the decision to suspend PIA flights into Europe with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell
During a telephonic conversation, the foreign minister conveyed concern on the suspension of PIA flights into Europe by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency.
He underlined that the steps being taken by the government are to ensure highest level of flight safety in PIA operations and that national airline remains committed to maintain the highest standards and quality in its air operations.
