FAISALABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested five alleged human traffickers in Faisalabad for their role in Umrah and visa fraud, officials said the other day.
According to the FIA, the operation led to the apprehension of five individuals in Dijkot who were accused of running a human trafficking network that exploited victims through fraudulent Umrah and visa arrangements. The arrested suspects include Inamul Haq, Ramzan, Javed, Siddique and Faisal Ali.
The FIA said a case has been registered on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Bashir under four sections of the law. In addition to the five arrested men, the agency stated that four other accused—Abdul Razaq, Abdullah Rahim, Irfan Chishti and Hina Khalid—have fled.
Investigators further claimed that the travel and tours agency associated with the accused was operating without a government license. During the operation, FIA officials recovered key evidence including transaction records, passports, visa documents, hotel booking records and mobile phones.
Officials alleged that the suspects received Rs 500,000 each from several people, confiscated their passports, and failed to send the victims for Umrah as promised. The FIA said it is continuing its investigation to identify any additional accomplices and to recover further evidence.
