ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Saturday termed Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) “a bunch of politically abandoned leaders having a prime aim to deceive the masses”.
In a statement issued after the Opposition alliance’s rally in Karachi, Fawad said these leaders have become insolvent after miserable failure of their various protests to topple the government.
“They can do nothing but only issue statements,” the federal minister said, adding that the opposition alliance and Maulana Fazlur Rehman have lost their senses after successive failures.
“The people had not been deceived by Fazl before and will not pay heed to Maulana’s adventures in future also,” he said, advising the JUI-F chief to try his luck of holding protest demonstrations against government in winter also.
Despite repeated setbacks and failures, he said the PDM still wanted to hamper the country’s development and prosperity. However, Fawad added, the opposition would never succeed in their nefarious designs.
He said PDM has no role left in the politics of the country as Prime Minister Imran Khan has completely exposed the true nature of the corrupt gang. “Whether it’s a long march, a short march or a quick march, government doesn’t care about such marches,” he added.
The minister advised PDM to wait for election for two years and then wait for five more years as Imran Khan was poised to form the next government also after winning next general elections.
“The opposition is leaning on each other’s shoulders to save their theft”, Fawad Chaudhry said adding that interestingly the opposition had already stabbed each other in the back before.
PM Imran-led govt a threat to country’s survival: Maulana Fazl
Earlier in the day, Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) president Maulana Fazlur Rehman asserted that the survival of the country was at stake owing to incompetence of Prime Minister Imran Khan-led government.
The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief was addressing a PDM rally in Karachi, the first in a series of countrywide protests recently announced by the opposition alliance against rising inflation.
PDM leaders including Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Mehmood Khan Ackakzai and several others also addressed the hundreds of workers gathered at the Regal Chowk, a busy intersection in the metropolis.
“If we do not push the ‘illegitimate’ rulers in the Arabian Sea anytime soon, then the survival of country will be in danger,” JUI-F chief said. He claimed ‘rising inflation’ had led to children being sold and parents killing themselves due to their inability to provide for them.
