Saudi low-cost carrier flyadeal announced on Tuesday its plans to launch scheduled flights to Karachi, Pakistan’s commercial capital, beginning February 2, 2025.
According to an airline statement, this move marks the start of a significant international expansion for the budget airline and represents its inaugural scheduled service to Pakistan and the broader South Asia region.
Starting February 2, flyadeal will operate twice-weekly flights connecting Karachi with Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, and Jeddah, its commercial hub. CEO Steven Greenway emphasized the airline’s commitment to growth, saying, “I commend the Pakistani authorities and our planning team for their diligent efforts in adding a new market to flyadeal’s network of year-round destinations, with additional cities in Pakistan on the horizon.”
Greenway highlighted the strong cultural and historical ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, as well as the demand for air travel driven by commercial, pilgrimage, and family connections. “Opening this new air corridor was only a matter of time,” he remarked.
He further said that the successful operation of Hajj charters to Pakistan earlier this year paved the way for this expansion. “The launch of these two new routes to Karachi also marks flyadeal’s entry into South Asia with scheduled services for the first time,” he added.
