ISLAMABAD: A District and Sessions Court in Islamabad has declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Omar Ayub a proclaimed offender and issued a permanent arrest warrant against him in a case stemming from the protest held on November 26.
Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi, who heard the protest-related case, noted that Ayub failed to appear despite repeated summons. On the basis of his non-appearance, the court ruled that he be declared a proclaimed offender and ordered his permanent arrest.
It may be recalled that a case was registered against Omar Ayub at the Secretariat Police Station under Section 144 and other applicable provisions, following the November 26 protest.
The development comes as PTI workers and leadership have reportedly faced multiple legal cases since the ouster of the PTI government in April 2022.
