ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi has said that excuses are being sought for (delaying) elections in the country, due to which he had to write a letter to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), asking them to follow the constitution and don’t look for loopholes or flaws (in the constitution).

Speaking to a private TV channel last evening, the President said that the ECP didn’t even bother to respond to my letter on the issue of elections, adding that giving the date of elections would not merit any penalty (on the ECP), and only that would enable the masses to decide who was right and who was wrong.

Responding to a question, Dr. Arif Alvi has said that the government has worked hard to get a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), but countries do not survive on debt, adding that “my message is that the country will not default.”

He said today, everyone understands that the country is faced with hard times, and everyone needs to learn from past mistakes and think for future in order to get out of the difficulties.

President of the country Dr. Arif Alvi said “we have to take care of ourselves because this country can be cured by the simple math formula of Two Plus Two is Equal to Four.” He said entire world knows about corruption, but nothing has been done to eradicate the menace from the country.

Dr. Arif Alvi said that billions have been siphoned into bank accounts of some individuals (by way of corruption), but there is a certain mafia which doesn’t allow actions against such corrupt elements. He further said that the effort, to do something against corruption through the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), got lost due to politics.

The President said that outdated laws were not able to deliver anything to the country, and that politicians made cases against each other.
