LAHORE: Former deputy speaker of Punjab Assembly, Dost Muhammad Mazari, is reported to have been arrested by Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) in a case of allegedly illegal allotment of 2,500 kanal land in Rajanpur district.
The ACE had summoned Mazari on October 11 for allegedly illegally occupying government land but he did not appear. After non-compliance with the summon, the ACE decided to file a case against Mazari.

Zahid Mazari, Sher Muhammad Mazari and Moazzam Mazari were also summoned by the ACE. According to the report of assistant commissioner Rojhan, Mazari has grabbed thousands of acres government’s land.
Confirming the arrest, his cousin Shabab Mazari said that the disgruntled PTI MPA was arrested when he was visiting his ailing grandfather Balakh Sher Mazari at a private hospital.
PTI’s dissident Member of the National Assembly Sardar Riaz Mehmood Khan Mazari told media “my father Balakh Sher Mazari has been unwell for 15 days. Dost Muhammad Mazari came to visit my father at the hospital.” He alleged that ACE officials came to arrest Mazari at the hospital without any warrant or first information report (FIR). “Dost Mazari is being targeted in political vengeance,” Riaz Mazari added.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dost Mazari had won the elections on ticket given by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), but during election of the Punjab chief minister after Usman Buzdar’s resignation, he decided to side by the PML-N.
