England secured a narrow four-run victory over Nepal in the fifth Group match of the ICC T20 World Cup, played at a cricket stadium in Mumbai.
After winning the toss, England elected to bat first and posted 184 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nepal were set a target of 185 runs to win the contest.
England’s innings was led by Jacob Bethell, who scored 55 runs, while captain Harry Brook contributed 53. Will Jacks added 39 runs, and Jofra Buttler chipped in with 26.
For Nepal, Dipendra Singh and Nandan Yadav picked up two wickets each, while Sher Malla and Sandeep Lamichhane claimed one wicket apiece.
In reply, Nepal showed great composure in the chase and kept the match alive until the final over. However, despite a spirited effort, the Nepali side managed 180 runs for six wickets in 20 overs.
Needing just five runs to win in the final moments, Nepal fell short despite having wickets in hand, allowing England to clinch a tense victory by four runs.
