KARACHI: The people have celebrated Eid-ul-Azha across the country in order to remember the supreme sacrifice offered by Hazrat Ibrahim and his son Hazrat Ismail in the fulfillment of the holy decree.
The Eid prayers were offered at mosques and open places across the country where Ulema and Khateebs highlighted the significance and philosophy of the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim.
Special prayers were also offered for the prosperity of the country and unity among the Muslim Ummah.
After Eid prayers‚ the Muslims sacrificed their animals in accordance with the Sunnah of Hazrat Ibrahim.
In Karachi‚ main congregations were held at Gulshan-e-Jinnah‚ Nishtar Park‚ National Stadium and Eidgah Nazimabad while in Lahore‚ the main Eid congregation was held at Badshahi Mosque.
In Islamabad‚ the main Eid congregation was held at the Faisal Mosque while in Azad Jammu and Kashmir‚ main Eid congregation was held at Central Eidgah in Muzaffarabad.
Eid-ul-Azha is named after the sacrificial ritual, one of the customs of the Haj in Saudi Arabia, where more than two million Muslims from around the world have gathered for the annual occasion.
