KARACHI: A contractor who use to supply petrol and diesel to the District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Korangi has committed suicide.
The deceased identified as Tariq Khawaja and was the frontman of Noor Petroleum company. Police said that a case involving Khawaja’s business partner Shafqat Mahmood was being heard by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
According to police, the suspect went to his office and shot himself over fears of being interrogated by the anti-corruption watchdog.
Tariq Khawaja was summoned by NAB Islamabad and had booked his ticket and had left for the airport. However, he went to his office and called his family, informing them that it was his last conversation with them.
After speaking to his family, he shot himself dead. He was a resident of Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Police have recovered a 30-bore pistol from the scene of the incident.
