S Shankar’s much-anticipated film Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, Kiara Advani, SJ Suryah, and Anjali, has made an impressive debut at the box office.
According to a report by Indian Express on Saturday, the film grossed Rs 51.25 crore on its opening day in India, surpassing the first-day earnings of Ram Charan’s previous solo release, Vinaya Vidheya Rama, which made Rs 34 crore.
However, it did not match the opening day collection of RRR, which earned Rs 133 crore. Game Changer earned Rs 42 crore in Telugu, Rs 2.1 crore in Tamil, and Rs 7 crore in Hindi, along with Rs 10 lakh in Kannada and Rs 3 lakh in Malayalam.
The film also saw remarkable occupancy rates, with 51.32% for morning shows, 39.33% for afternoon shows, and 50.53% for evening shows in the Telugu version. The 4DX version in Hindi had an impressive 82% occupancy for the afternoon shows.
Game Changer has grossed Rs 186 crore worldwide on its opening day according to the makers. This strong start is seen as a beacon of hope for Shankar, especially after his last film Indian 2 underperformed.
In Game Changer, Ram Charan plays a dual role, with Kiara Advani, Anjali, and SJ Suryah also featuring prominently. As Game Changer enjoys its success during Sankranti, it remains to be seen if the film can maintain its momentum over the weekend, potentially overtaking Pushpa: The Rule at the box office.
