ISLAMABAD: Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali has returned home after being cleared of rape charges filed against him during his stay in the United Kingdom, officials confirmed on Monday.
The case, which had sparked debate on social media, was closed after police investigations found no evidence of forced sexual activity.
Reports said the allegations weakened further when WhatsApp conversations were recovered, supporting Haider’s version of events and ultimately leading to his exoneration.
With the clearance, the 24-year-old batsman is now expected to resume professional cricketing commitments in Pakistan.
Haider, who has represented Pakistan at the international level, remains regarded as one of the country’s most promising young batting talents.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) welcomed his return but confirmed it will conduct an internal review under the PCB Code of Conduct before making any decision on his future involvement.
The board had earlier maintained that no action would be taken until the legal process was concluded.
