ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Usman Dar on Wednesday expressed concerns that the COVID-19 has severely affected the world economy including Pakistan.
During the meeting with the president of Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Usman Dar said that as a result of the affected economy by the COVID-19, the export industries have been exempted from the lockdown to minimize the losses.
Dar also warned the industries about adopting standard operating procedures (SOPs) that the industrial units will be immediately sealed if they did not strictly follow the SOPs set by the government.
Moreover, former director Karachi Stock Exchange Amin Yousuf Balgamwala said that the government had taken stringent measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, adding that these steps have led to a very serious situation with the closure of industries and markets.
He said the provincial government should give some relief to commercial importers and allow doing business in banking hours. He expressed deep concerns over the stoppage of vehicles transporting raw material and food chemicals by the police in the backdrop of lockdown.
Dar earlier assured that Pakistan’s measures to deal with the coronavirus were better than developed countries. “Despite all the negative propaganda against Pakistan, the World Organization is convinced we took measures more timely than other countries,” he asserted.
He further wrote that the people should support Prime Minister Imran Khan and take preventive measures against the deadly virus.
