LAHORE: The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that ‘constitution will cease to exist should the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) decides not to release funds for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as per Supreme Court’s orders.
He was talking to reporters informally during a short break that took place amid proceedings at the Lahore High Court. The LHC was hearing Khan’s petition to quash some 121 cases of identical nature, and restrain Punjab administration from launching another operation at his Zaman Park residence during Eid holidays. The 2-judges LHC bench later referred the matter to Chief Justice to form larger bench.

Imran Khan said if the SBP didn’t disburse funds to the ECP for elections, that would prove that the rule of law no longer existed, adding that the country was already witnessing massive human rights violations during these days.
Khan said the present caretaker government of Punjab was doing everything except for holding elections.
Referring to political dialogues, Khan stated that negotiations were taking place despite there being no need for them according to the constitution. He emphasized that elections must be held within 90 days and that the caretaker government should be removed and replaced with an administrator whose sole responsibility is to conduct the elections.
Furthermore, Khan accused the caretaker government of having its own agenda and taking revenge against elected governments. He claimed that the current government is following an agenda to end the cases against Nawaz Sharif and that this is part of the London Plan.
Khan also addressed Pakistan’s relations with America and Saudi Arabia, saying that it was General Bajwa who campaigned against the PTI and propagated negatively for he wanted an extension. He highlighted that two OIC meetings were held in Pakistan in three months, which had never happened before.
The PTI Chairman said that social media workers were being kidnapped, after which charges were beign framed against them, adding that the party was being subjected to a media blackout.
