Congo virus claims six lives Balochistan

QUETTA: Several districts of Balochistan have once again come under the grip of the Congo virus, six people including women and children have lost their lives due to the virus.

This year, 35 cases of the Congo virus have been reported in Balochistan, out of which six people have died. It should be noted that this is not the first time that an epidemic of Congo virus has broken out in Balochistan, but dozens of people have died from this epidemic in the late 80s and mid-90s.

The interest of the provincial government regarding the spread and prevention of this virus can be estimated from the fact that no research cell could be established in the province for 4 decades.

From 2001 to 2023, cases of the Congo virus have been reported almost every year in Loralai and Musakhel districts. Always complains to the affected people that the provincial government does not do anything regarding the treatment of the victims and animal protection measures in the districts of the province.
