Former Punjab CM and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Buzdar became the latest politician to announce their decision to quit politics.
In a press conference, he said “I stand with the armed forces,” adding that his politics was peaceful.
He urged all parties—regardless of their political allegiances—to work together for Pakistan’s improvement.
He denounced the unrest that followed the detention of Imran Khan, chairman of the PTI, on May 9.
The military facilities that were attacked belonged to the Pakistani government, and Buzdar argued that such instances were to be avoided.
As a PTI candidate from PP-286 (Dera Ghazi Khan-II), he was chosen to serve in the Punjab Provincial Assembly in 2018.
He was appointed CM Punjab in on August 20, 2018 and continued to hold the position till April 30, 2022. He resigned on April 1, 2022 but remained the CM until the appointment of his replacement. He was replaced by Hamza Shehbaz.
