FIH Hockey Nations Cup 2024 is being held in Poland. The winner will join the 2024-25 FIH Hockey Pro League season.
The city of Gniezno, Poland, is hosting the men’s event which involves some of the best teams in the world: Poland, Korea, Malaysia, France, South Africa, Pakistan, Canada, Austria and – as the team relegated from the 2022-23 FIH Hockey Pro League season – New Zealand.
Since, on the basis of the FIH World Rankings, the Polish team had not qualified for this FIH Hockey Nations Cup, the tournament will exceptionally be played with 9 teams. It will run from 31 May to 9 June 2024.
Meanwhile, Pakistani team beat Canada by 8-1 in the FIH Nations Cup Monday after Rana Waheed Ashraf netted four times taking the greens to the victory.
This was Pakistan’s first win in the tournament and they have now gone to the top of Pool B with four points.
In the first match against Malaysia, Pakistan made an excellent comeback and secured a draw with a last-minute goal. Pakistan will now face France in their final pool match of the tournament on June 5.
