Due to torrential rain in various cities of the country, including Islamabad and Lahore, low-lying areas have been submerged, as reported by national media on Sunday.
In Islamabad and Rawalpindi, trees were uprooted due to torrential rain early in the morning. In Kahuta, a child died after being buried under the debris of a collapsed house roof. Rescue teams rescued four people, including the parents.
The highest rainfall of 131 millimeters was recorded at Saidpur gauging station. The water level in Nala Lai at Katarian rose up to 15 feet.
On the other hand, the weather became pleasant in various cities of Punjab, including Lahore, due to the thunder of clouds. The intensity of the heat has broken. Rainwater accumulated in several areas, and measures for drainage are ongoing. Clouds also poured down in Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, and Gujrat.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert warning of a potential risk of urban flooding in several cities.
