U.S. President Donald Trump has called for the dismissal of journalist Natasha Bertrand, a move that has put the CNN reporter in the spotlight on social media.

According to reports, Natasha Bertrand contradicted President Trump’s claims about destroying key nuclear facilities in Iran. She presented intelligence reports to the public, which stated that the U.S. strike had not caused significant damage to Iran’s nuclear sites.

CNN issued a clear response to President Trump, refusing to terminate Natasha Bertrand, stating they stand “100%” behind her and her team.

Who is Natasha Bertrand?

Natasha Bertrand is an American journalist who reports on national security for CNN and is based in Washington, D.C. She was born in 1992 in New York City. She graduated in 2014 with a double major in political science and philosophy from Vassar College and the London School of Economics.

She began her career in 2014 as an intern at Business Insider, where she later became a political reporter covering U.S. foreign policy and national security. During this time, she also reported on the Steele Dossier, which drew some criticism.

In February 2018, she joined The Atlantic as a staff writer and simultaneously worked as a political analyst for NBC News and MSNBC. In 2019, she became a national security reporter at Politico, where she covered the U.S. intelligence community and impeachment investigations against Donald Trump. In December 2020, she was named to Forbes’ “30 Under 30” list in the media category.

In April 2021, Natasha joined CNN as a White House reporter and was promoted to Pentagon correspondent in 2023. She has reported on several major stories, such as Israel’s widespread use of dumb bombs in Gaza and secrecy surrounding Secretary Austin’s hospitalization.

She is also a regular contributor to CNN’s The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer. Her reporting primarily focuses on intelligence leaks, the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan, and U.S.-Iran tensions.
