Chris Evans is having second thoughts about quitting acting

Back in 2019, Chris Evans finished the seventh of seven contractually obligated Captain America performances with Avengers: Endgame, and he left Los Angeles.

There were multiple reasons behind his departure and one of them was his association with ‘Pavlovian anxiety’. Another was going back home to Massachusetts, where Evans grew up and where he’s often resided since 2014.

Now the actor has provided insights into his decision to walk away from his lucrative Marvel contract as Captain America and said, “I was really nervous about taking the role initially. I remember in my late 20s having a real shift in how I felt on set, how I felt promoting films: a little more anxiety, a little more uncertainty.”

Evans revealed that as his fame continued to rise, so did his anxiety levels, sometimes to the point of being debilitating. Eventually, he made the decision to relocate from Los Angeles back to his hometown located just outside Boston, Massachusetts.

In an interview with GQ Magazine for their October issue, the 42-year-old actor added, “You always end up questioning, Is this what I should be doing?”

Chris reflected on his choice of the possibility of leaving the entertainment industry and said that he came close to quitting acting and admitted of having doubts about whether he wants to continue acting or not.

He said that he could just make furniture for nobody and be happy. “I don’t want to waste too much time in this industry, but that doesn’t really feel…. That doesn’t sound correct. I don’t want to occupy too much space in an industry that I’ve already poured 20 years into,” he said.

Evans has had enough success to be financially secure for the rest of his life, and probably a few lifetimes beyond. On the work front, he was recntly seen in Apple’s action comedy ‘Ghosted’ along with Ana de Armas. Apart from that, he will star in Netflix’s ‘Pain Hustlers’, a sly, clever movie about the opioid crisis; and Amazon’s upcoming Christmas movie ‘Red One’, with Dwayne ‘The Rock’.
