KARACHI: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-president Maryam Nawaz on Sunday night asserted that the children should not be involved in elders’ fight, while referring to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
“You were a servant before, and after occupying the prime minister’s seat, you have become a paid servant whose price the people of Pakistan have to pay,” she said while addressing the PPP-hosted PDM’s jalsa at Karachi’s Bagh-i-Jinnah.
The PML-N Vice president said that the Prime Minister was not worried in the least about the people. “Rather he always addresses the Opposition or the ones who brought him into power,” she added.
Maryam Nawaz thanked the PPP leadership and people of Karachi for according her warm welcome. She also paid tribute to the provincial government for their efforts amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the address, she also recalled her meeting with Benazir Bhutto, whom she had met only once. “She had met us when we were living in exile. Like a mother, she spent three hours with me. I cannot forget that meeting,” Maryam added.
Referring to PM Imran’s Saturday speech, she said that the premier was troubled after just one jalsa. Maryam said that she knew that PM Imran was under pressure, but he could have at least respected the prime minister’s office.
“If there is no one to teach you how to react under pressure then you could have learned from Nawaz Sharif. In a fight among elders, there is no room for children,” she remarked.
“Your fear was apparent from every word, every action of yours, and people want to see this fear on your face,” she told the premier. “PM Imran addressed empty chairs, dug democracy’s grave, and yet Nawaz Sharif never took your name,” she asserted.
Responding to the PM’s ‘Nani’ comment, the PML-N vice-president said that she did not like to respond to the premier’s comments as it is below her dignity. She, however, said that she couldn’t resist responding to the premier’s statement where he had mockingly referred to her as a nani.
