The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has introduced 13 new feeder routes for electric buses in Islamabad. Currently, 120 electric buses are operating across these routes, with an additional 40 buses expected to be deployed by June 2025, subject to the completion of charging infrastructure at the H-9 Bus Depot.
This initiative aims to enhance connectivity by integrating the feeder routes with the existing Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. The project envisions the establishment of 216 bus stops and four strategically located depots, marking a significant step towards modernizing public transportation in Islamabad.
The first fleet of 30 electric buses was launched in July 2024, serving over 32,000 passengers so far. As part of its long-term vision, the CDA plans to develop a comprehensive public transport master plan and construct a Multimodal Intercity Bus Terminal in I-11, with funding assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
