The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is weighing plans to take possession of cancelled properties in Islamabad and has directed its law wing to initiate groundwork on the issue, officials said.
As part of the move, the authority has sought complete details of cancelled plots, including those involved in court cases, amid concerns over long-pending disputes and the repeated sale of cancelled properties to unsuspecting buyers.
Officials said the authority has decided to pursue such cases, especially where plots have remained occupied for years despite incomplete payments or unpaid dues.
CDA Member Estate Mohammad Zaman Wattoo has directed the law wing to compile details of all cancelled plots, including those under litigation, within three days.
In an official letter, the CDA expressed concern that former allottees were exploiting the lack of follow-up action by selling cancelled properties to unsuspecting buyers through future sale agreements, causing financial losses to the authority.
The letter also instructed officers to initiate legal proceedings to protect CDA interests.
Officials said the authority would review all disputed cases and take action if negligence by CDA officials was found during the process.
