Capcom has surprised players with the unexpected release of a new free DLC mini-game for the latest entry in the franchise, Resident Evil Requiem.
The add-on, titled “Leon Must Die Forever”, was shadow-dropped without any prior announcement and is now available at no cost across platforms, including the PlayStation 5 and PC. The mode introduces a fast-paced survival challenge centered around fan-favorite character Leon, pushing players into increasingly difficult combat scenarios with heightened enemy aggression and limited resources.
The update appears to expand the content of the upcoming RE9 experience, giving fans an early taste of additional gameplay mechanics and experimental modes that could feature in future expansions.
Capcom website confirmed no prior marketing rollout for the DLC, making the sudden release a notable surprise within the gaming community.
Meanwhile, Sony Interactive Entertainment platforms, including the PlayStation 5, were among the first to receive the update alongside PC players.
The stealth release has sparked strong reactions from fans online, with many praising Capcom’s unexpected approach and others speculating that more unannounced content may follow in the lead-up to the next major Resident Evil installment.
