Sindh is set to expand its public transport network with new electric and double-decker buses for Karachi, alongside a broader rollout of intercity bus services across the province, as the government moves to modernize mobility and improve connectivity.
A meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department was held under the chairmanship of Sharjeel Memon, attended by Transport Secretary Asad Zamin, Managing Director of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority Saleemullah Odho, and other relevant officials.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on new routes for the Peoples Bus Service, distribution of pink EV scooters, the EV taxi service, and ongoing as well as proposed mass transit projects.
Sharjeel Memon said that the Sindh government will purchase 1,000 more pink electric scooters for women, while new electric and double-decker buses are being introduced for Karachi.
The senior minister added that, to further expand the province’s mass transit system, it has been decided to launch an intercity Peoples Bus Service.
Under this initiative, new routes from Khairpur to Rohri and Khairpur to Ranipur will begin next week.
He further said that intercity bus services will soon be launched in several districts, including Larkana, Dadu, Sehwan, Hyderabad, and Sanghar.
