RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 10 suspected militants and arrested two female suicide bombers along with a facilitator during a series of intelligence-based operations in Balochistan over the past 48 hours, the military’s media wing said on Tuesday.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were conducted in the Sorab and Mastung districts as part of the military’s ongoing campaign against what it described as the Indian-sponsored “Fitna-ul-Hindustan” and “Fitna-ul-Khawarij” terrorist networks.
The ISPR said security forces carried out multiple intelligence-based area sanitisation and targeted operations, resulting in the killing of a total of 10 militants.
In Sorab district, security forces effectively engaged suspected militant hideouts, killing seven militants, the statement said.
In a separate operation in Mastung district, three more militants were killed. The ISPR added that two female suicide bombers allegedly linked to the group it referred to as “Fitna-ul-Hindustan” were arrested along with one of their facilitators.
The military said security personnel also recovered weapons, ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) from the militants during the operations.
According to the statement, a follow-up sanitisation operation is continuing in the area to eliminate any remaining militant presence.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, meanwhile, has praised the officers and personnel of the security forces for carrying out what he described as successful operations in Sorab and Mastung.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz commended the forces for killing 10 militants and arresting two female suicide bombers and a facilitator, reiterating the government’s resolve to continue operations against militant groups and maintain peace and stability in the country.
