KARACHI: Javed Memon, Assistant Director Local Fund Audit (ADLFA) of the Water Board, has also made it a habit to raise objections on bills approved by the top officials of the institution, after which 2 percent commission would be collected after resolving the objections, while ADLFA’s brother Jamil Memon has been receiving salaries without duty.
It is learned that the Assistant Director Local Fund Audit of Water and Sewerage Board was earlier posted at Matiari District, District Council Malir and Gharbi, and other places.
Wherever there has been talking of alleged corruption since his appointment, Grade-18 officer Javed Memon surprisingly also raised objections against Grade-19 and Grade 20 officers.
It is learned from the documents that Jamil Memon, brother of Assistant Director Local Fund Audit Javed Memon, has been receiving salaries without performing his duties for a long time. Jamil Memon was recruited in Grade-7 in Water Board, whose employee number is 22436. He was appointed in 2007, who has never been seen by any officer or employee while on duty.
It is learned that after the appointment of Javed Memon in Water Board, his brother Jamil Memon has also been posted in Audit Department. His brother Jamil Memon receives a steady salary but does not do his duty, yet he is striving for allowances, as per reports.
Javed Memon also objected to Senior Officer Superintendent Engineer Ghaffar Sheikh. In addition to this, instead of monitoring the local funds, they stop the bills by raising objections.
It should be noted that Javed Memon is famous on the water board due to unnecessary objections. Javed Memon has recently raised a unique objection against retired employee Pervez Haq and former director personal. Letter No. RAD / LFAKW & SB / 35/2021 is issued for which they have written for confirmation/approval that this order is genuine or fake and why their approval is being obtained in 2021 as the cases are from 2012-2016.
In this regard, the Assistant Director Local Fund has written a letter to Section Officer VII to clarify the question raised. A senior officer confirmed that the objections raised by Javed Memon are part of the earnings.
If verification is pending, each officer seeks access to the Sindh Secretariat and receives a letter from the concerned section officer which has already been approved for the employees. While Javed Memon knows that the order can be confirmed by the QR code which appears on the letter and such letter is issued only with the approval of the competent authority.
Sources confirmed that the old bills are still being passed with good money through Javed Memon. Sources also confirmed that Javed Memon has assets in excess of his income, including an apartment worth Rs20 million in Saima Builder near Kagalistan Johar/Dalmia. He also has a Corolla car and a driver. He was contacted for comment but did not pick up the phone.
