ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has warned that the coronavirus has not completely been curbed from Pakistan yet.
While addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the federal minister said that the government’s timely measures and people’s cooperation have led to largely controlling coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The government’s policies of contact tracing, smart lockdown, and public awareness have contributed greatly to contain the spread of the pandemic in a short period, the minister said. “We are not making any victory announcement on reduction in the virus cases as everyone is a witness of government’s effective policies,” the minister maintained.

According to Asad Umar, presently twenty districts are under lockdown. “We enforced 2350 lockdowns across the country, and at present only twenty districts have a lockdown,” he added. “The government is now heading toward micro smart lockdown to target only the specific places affected by the pandemic,” he further added.
The federal minister further said that the majority of people followed the standard operating procedures, which yielded positive results. “The cases may again rise if people discontinue following the SOPs,” he warned while urging people to follow Standard operating procedure (SOP)s.
