KARACHI: The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has raided the medicine market and recovered 250,000 hoarded Panadol tablets.
In a statement from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, it has been said that DRAP has taken action against the stockpiling of the antipyretic drug Panadol, during the operation, more than two and 250,000 panadol pills have been recovered from a warehouse in Karachi.
According to the Ministry of Health, the DRAP team raided Altaf Traders in Karachi’s Kuchi Gili Medicine Market, and around 252,000 Panadol tablets were seized during the raid.
According to the Ministry of Health, this hoarding created an artificial shortage of Panadol in the market, but now Drap’s team has taken over the stock.
Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel has said that those involved in illegal activities will be dealt with iron hands.
It should be noted that there has been a severe shortage of fever medicine Panadol in the country, and the pharmaceutical company said that it had requested to increase the price by one rupee per pill, which was not accepted.
It is not possible to sell the medicine at a loss. The president of the pharmaceutical manufacturing company says that more than 45 million Panadol was being manufactured every month, which has now been discontinued.
