Aqib Javed, former cricketer and interim head coach, explained why Shaheen Afridi was excluded from the Test squad for the South Africa series.
According to a report by Pak Observer on Wednesday, Javed stated that the fast bowler was given rest to focus on his fitness ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, with the aim of helping him regain peak form.
He emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in the One-Day squad in preparation for the Champions Trophy, aiming to blend experienced players with youth.
Javed added that Abbas Afridi was selected to replace Shaheen Shah Afridi in the Test squad for the South Africa series.
