ISLAMABAD: A citizen in Karachi has challenged the appointment of the channel in-charge at the state-owned Radio Pakistan.

The citizen has filed an application against the appointment of News and Current Affairs Channel in-charge Muhammad Tariq Chaudhry.

The application was submitted through his lawyer and renowned legal expert Mujeeb-ur-Rehman. A notice has also been sent to Director-General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) Ms Ambreen Jan.

He contended that News and Current Affairs channel has been declared as a separate section, while Radio Pakistan is a state-owned organisation that runs on taxpayer’s money.

He said the channel’s in-charge is allegedly involved in gross misconduct and several complaints have been filed against him. He said the decision to appoint him to head the channel is a violation of rules and misuse of taxpayer’s fund. His counsel has sent a notice to Director General PBC and sought a reply.
