The first message from newly elected Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has been released following his appointment.
In an audio message, the Supreme Leader declared that the blood of the martyrs would be avenged and announced that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed.
He stated that the position he now holds places significant responsibilities upon him, adding that the Iranian people have shown the world that they are a great nation. He said his role holds no significance without the support of the public.
The Supreme Leader further said that enemies are targeting the people of Iran, and that the nation must defeat its adversaries. He stressed that Iran would not abandon its right to avenge the blood of the martyrs and that national unity among Iranians would remain strong. He also prayed that God would guide him in leading the nation.
He added that US military bases in the Middle East must be closed, warning that attacks would continue if the bases remain operational. At the same time, he said Iran believes in maintaining friendly relations with neighbouring countries, emphasising that operations are aimed only at military bases and would continue if necessary.
Mojtaba Khamenei also said that the unity of the Iranian people would lead to the defeat of their enemies. He vowed that Iran would avenge the martyrs, particularly those associated with Monab School, and reiterated that the closure of the Strait of Hormuz should remain in place as a means of applying pressure on adversaries.
