A unique restaurant has been opened in Sweden to save food from being going to waste.
Every dish in the restaurant is made from leftover ingredients with the aim of preventing food wastage and creating awareness among the public.
The unique restaurant is located in Malmö, Sweden, where people come not because the food is made from high-quality ingredients, but because the food is made from discarded vegetables, meat and other items.
The aim of this unique restaurant is to make diners aware that food items should not be wasted but that they are also edible and can be used to prepare delicious dishes. Operating since May 2018, the restaurant’s co-owners, Eleanor Mohlin and Eric Mohlin, offer a new daily menu made with locally sourced ingredients.
We are not saving the world, but we are convincing our guests that they can use things that thought were spoiled now.
The restaurant’s kitchen team picks up supplies from suppliers at seven in the morning, separates the unusable items, and then selects the dishes from the leftovers.
They contain meat, vegetables and other items, which are not harmful to eat but are thrown away by the supplier due to their condition or close to the expiry date.
This restaurant is a great example and model for the whole world especially Pakistan in terms of its unique idea and meaningful purpose. Food is wasted in Pakistan too, which leads to a lot of pollution.
According to the European Union agency Eurostat, 50.7 million tons of food was wasted in 2020, which means that we waste 10% of our total food.
