KARACHI: Islamabad United came back from behind to defeat Multan Sultans by three wickets in the third match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 on Sunday played at the National Stadium.
United were chasing a target of 151 runs seemed to have lost when it lost six wickets at 74 runs. Lewis Gregory played a blinder and scored 49 off 31 balls to secure victory for his side with one over to spare.
He was supported by Faheem Ashraf who scored 22 runs. Shahid Afridi and Carlos Carlos Brathwaite grabbed two wickets each while Muhammad Umar and Khushdil Shah got one apiece.
Earlier, Skipper Mohammad Rizwan dominated with his 71-runs knock as Multan Sultans posted 150-8 in twenty overs against Islamabad United.
Sultans lost opener Chris Lynn for just 4 runs after they were asked to bat first. Rizwan stood firm despite Sultans lost a couple of more wickets in quick successions. The right-handed batsman scored 71 runs off 53 balls laced with eight boundaries and two sixes.
Rilee Rossouw made 25 runs with the help of two boundaries and as many sixes. Carlos Brathwaite remained not out for 21 runs spread over two boundaries and a six.
For United, Mohammad Wasim Jr bagged three wickets while Lewis Gregory took two. Shadab Khan and Faheem Ashraf shared a wicket each.
