KARACHI: National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) has terminated the services of an employee who was found harassing a female applicant by sending objectionable messages.
A man named Zahid Alam had caught a NADRA employee allegedly harassing his wife handed him over to the police for further legal action. He was identified as Merajuddin, is a resident of North Karachi, and was hired as Registration Executive (Daily Wages) at the NADRA mega centre in SITE Area.
NADRA has taken action and terminated him from service, saying he has been found “involved in harassment of female applicant by sending unethical/unwanted messages.” As a result, he had terminated with immediate effect and told to report to Regional Head Office for clearance formalities.
Police said that Zahid Alam submitted a written application to the SITE-A Section police station claiming that his wife was being harassed by an unidentified man, who was sending objectionable text messages and videos on her mobile phone number.
Police said the suspect worked as a data entry operator and had retrieved the mobile phone number of the woman from NADRA records to harass her. The official said the suspect also used to send illicit material including videos to her. The woman had visited the NADRA mega centre on February 8. He was caught by the woman’s husband after she agreed to meet him at Bab-e-Khyber in the SITE Area who handed him over to the police.
