NEW DELHI: Former Indian Captain and incumbent BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been hospitalised in Kolkata today (Saturday) after complaining of chest pain, suspected to be a mild cardiac arrest.
According to Indian media reports, Sourav Ganguly felt some “uneasiness” immediately after using the treadmill at his home gym and was admitted to the nearby Woodlands Hospital.
Ganguly’s elder brother Snehasish Ganguly informed that the former India captain will be discharged after an angioplasty. Dr Rupali Basu, MD & CEO of Woodlands Hospital later issued a statement saying Ganguly had family history of IHD (Ischemic heart disease).
“When he came to the hospital at 1pm, his pulse was 70/min, BP 130/80 mm of Hg and other clinical parameters were within normal limits,” the hospital statement said, adding, “He has received loading doses of dual antiplatelets and statin and is undergoing primary angioplasty now.”
The hospital has already formed a board of specialised doctors for Ganguly’s treatment. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed that Ganguly was indeed hopsitalised and wished him a “speedy recovery”.
Following the report, the International Cricket Council (ICC) and cricketers from across the world took to Twitter to wish the 48-year-old a speedy recovery.
