ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan today (Thursday) has asserted that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was now running away from submitting its resignations to the speakers of the respective assemblies.
The statement came while chairing a meeting of his party and government spokespersons. The meeting deliberated upon the current political situation and discussed the way forward.
Article 23 of the Charter of Democracy was also discussed at the meeting. The participants stated that according to the COD signed by PML-N and PPP, both parties agreed on holding Senate elections via open ballot but now, they have backtracked on their vow.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister said, “The opposition’s alliance will be broken soon due to their internal differences.” Taking about JUI-F chief Maulana Fazl, PM Imran said that he wasn’t appearing before the accountability watchdog as he had no answer to the questions pertaining to the corruption.
The meeting was briefed on the ongoing operation against land mafias. The Prime Minister, while announcing to continue operations against them, said that PML-N MNAs have deep roots in the land grabbing mafias.
Earlier on December 15, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi had claimed that Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) was divided over resignations from the assemblies and long march.
Commenting on the two major parties of the PDM, Pakistan People’s Party and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, he had said that former president Asif Ali Zardari had not taken any decision yet, while there was a clear division in the ranks of PML-N.
