ISLAMABAD: Two brothers brutally thrashed a mechanic who demanded payment after repairing a refrigerator.
The incident occurred in Taramri Chowk where the two brothers, along with their friends, attacked a mechanic’s shop and severely tortured him with an iron rod.
They proceeded to file a case against the mechanic at Koral police station, while the victim’s complaint was not resolved. After two weeks, the mechanic paid a bribe of Rs4000 and the police filed a case based on his medical reports.
The mechanic Tanveer Hussain said that Saleem had gotten a refrigerator repaired six months ago but has not made the payment of Rs4500. In June, Saleem’s brother Nadeem came to his shop where he demanded his outstanding payment, leading to a verbal scuffle between them.
After three hours, both brothers came with three other men and attacked his shop, brutally thrashed him with an iron rod and butt-end of a pistol, and fled from the scene. He said that police instead filed a baseless case against him rather than taking action against the perpetrators.
The investigating officer ASI Manzoor delayed filing the medical report for two weeks and eventually, a case was filed after making a bribe. The suspects received bail and are urging for reconciliation through local PTI leader Ali Asghar who hails from Alipur.
The mechanic said the brothers are demanding Rs9 lakhs to withdraw the case against him. He urged police to conduct an impartial inquiry to ascertain the facts.
When contacted, PTI leader Alia Asghar said he had attempted to reconcile the differences between both sides but stopped after no headway was made. He said that both sides have suffered injuries and cross version case was filed.
Koral Police Station ASI Manzoor said that the allegations are wrong as all legal procedures were duly completed. He said both sides were injured in the incident an FIR was lodged accordingly.
