Pakistan Army Major lays down life in fight against COVID-19

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan army major embraced martyrdom in the line of duty at the Torkham border in the fight against coronavirus.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major Muhammad Asghar contracted the virus while performing the duty of screening the people at Torkham border.

He was shifted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Peshawar with breathing problems and was put on a ventilator but succumbed to coronavirus, said the ISPR.

Major Asghar was posted at Torkham Border to manage the screening of the people and movement of logistic convoys to Afghanistan. His death marks the first casualty from the novel virus in the country’s armed forces. 

The military’s press wing said Major Muhammad Asghar laid his life in the line of duty at Torkham border in fight against COVID-19. “There is no cause bigger than serving the Nation. #OurMartyrsOurHeroes”, said the ISPR.
