VEHARI: A disturbing incident involving the alleged desecration of two graves has been reported in Chak No. 62/WB, within the jurisdiction of Thaingi Police Station in Vehari district, Punjab, where a man was allegedly involved in exhuming the graves of a married couple and removing human remains.
Police said the suspect, identified as Waheed Ahmed, son of Idrees Gujjar, was arrested following the incident. According to authorities, human remains allegedly removed from the graves were also recovered from the suspect.
Police said the suspect is reportedly addicted to ice, a commonly used term for crystal methamphetamine. However, investigators have yet to determine the motive behind the alleged act.
Officials said the suspect is being questioned to establish why the graves were disturbed and what he intended to do with the recovered remains. Investigators are also looking into whether the incident was linked to any other criminal motive.
The incident has caused concern and anger among residents of the area. Local people have called for a transparent investigation to determine the facts and ensure that appropriate legal action is taken.
Police said further action will be taken in accordance with the findings of the investigation.
