PATNA: A 26-year-old man, Shiv Shankar, has been arrested in the Indian state of Bihar for allegedly killing his father. Police claim that the suspect planned the alleged murder after watching the recently released Ajay Devgn film ‘Drishyam 3’.
According to police, Shiv Shankar lived with his wife in Surat and had strained relations with his father over a family land dispute. After allegedly watching the film, he travelled around 2,000 kilometres to his native village, entered the house through the back door and allegedly attacked his sleeping father with an axe.
Police said the suspect kept his mobile phone switched off during the journey. However, he turned it back on at Patoree railway station and contacted his wife, providing investigators with an important lead. Using technical surveillance and call records, police traced his movements and arrested him in Surat.
According to police, the suspect allegedly admitted during interrogation that he had planned the crime after watching the film. He was produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
