NAGOYA: Indian hockey umpire and technical official Gurinder Singh Singha has been sent back to India from Japan following a complaint alleging sexual harassment during the Asian Games.
According to Indian media reports, allegations of inappropriate conduct were raised against Singha during his stay in Nagoya involving a female hockey official from Malaysia and a hotel employee. A Hockey India official confirmed that Singha was sent back to India two days ago following a complaint filed by the Malaysian official.
The official said further action would be considered after the Asian Hockey Federation submits its detailed report. He added that appropriate action would be taken if the allegations are substantiated.
Reports also indicate that Singha had faced a complaint from a female umpire during the Hockey India League in Ranchi in 2025. However, a three-member committee formed to investigate that case reportedly found no conclusive evidence against him.
