LAHORE: The scope of an ongoing inquiry into Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Rizwan’s alleged links with online betting companies has been expanded, with sources claiming that the investigation is making further progress.
According to well-informed sources, investigative authorities are conducting a detailed examination of data extracted from Mohammad Rizwan’s mobile phones, along with his alleged communications with owners of betting companies. Sources said that some conversations allegedly held between the cricketer and agents of the companies have also been monitored as part of the inquiry.
The sources further claimed that, initially, when investigators asked the cricketer to hand over his mobile phone in a hotel lobby, he hesitated for some time before eventually handing it over in accordance with the required procedure.
At present, the mobile phones of Mohammad Rizwan and another Pakistan cricketer, Imam-ul-Haq, are undergoing forensic analysis by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
In addition, investigators are closely examining alleged communications between Mohammad Rizwan and his personal manager or agent, as well as evidence related to financial transactions.
The inquiry is ongoing, and the allegations against the cricketer have not been established as fact.
