California: WhatsApp has introduced a new Events Hub that allows users to create, manage, and view event details from a single place. The feature is currently being rolled out to a limited number of Android beta testers.
The new section will appear separately in WhatsApp Settings, allowing users to add an event name, date, time, location, description, and cover photo. Users can also set reminders and add a WhatsApp call link to their events.
One of the key features is the ability to invite people who do not have a WhatsApp account. Guests can use an invitation link to view basic event details and confirm their attendance by providing their name and verifying their phone number.
WhatsApp said personal messages and calls will continue to remain end-to-end encrypted. The Events Hub is currently available to selected users running beta version 2.26.36.5, while the company has not yet announced when the feature will be rolled out to all users.
