QUETTA: Security forces are reported to have killed two terrorists affiliated with Fitna-ul-Hindustan during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan, security sources said on Monday.
Media reports quoted security sources saying the operation was launched on information about the presence of terrorists between Kili Zaik and Kaghli, 12 kilometres north of Basima Camp.
During the ensuing clash, two terrorists were killed while three others were injured, sources said.
The slain terrorist was identified as Mushtaq Ahmed alias Koh Yar. Security forces recovered ammunition, magazines, grenades and IED-making equipment from the possession of the terrorists.
The operation is part of the ongoing campaign against terrorist networks in the province under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3.
Security forces have been conducting sustained IBOs across Balochistan in recent weeks, with operations reported in Mastung, Bolan, Washuk, Awaran, Sibi, Khuzdar, Harnai, Nushki, Kambela, Asimabad and Kharan.
During these operations, security sources said, more than two dozen terrorists have been killed, including 15 Khawarij killed in operations across eight districts, seven terrorists killed in Lajay area of Kharan, and three terrorists killed in Kambela and Asimabad where an area of 68 square kilometres was cleared.
Weapons, ammunition, vehicles and war material have been recovered, while hideouts and sanctuaries have been destroyed.
Security sources said the terrorist network has been severely damaged due to the effective operations and that the forces are determined to continue operations without interruption until terrorism is completely eliminated and lasting peace is established in Balochistan.
