Karachi: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Multan has arrested members of an organized network accused of facilitating illegal border crossings from Pakistan to Iran and onward, officials said.
FIA Immigration Multan detained two passengers—Safdar Iqbal and Faisal Shahzad—both residents of Mandi Bahauddin, for questioning over an alleged illegal exit from the country. Officials said the two arrived in Multan from the UAE via flight G-9558.
During immigration clearance, the FIA spokesperson said the passengers’ travel records were not available in the system.
The FIA further alleged that the suspects illegally crossed the Taftan border, reached Iraq via Iran, and that a travel agent, Nasir, had facilitated their exit from Pakistan.
Authorities said Nasir allegedly promised both men jobs and arranged their travel to Iraq.
According to the passengers’ statements, Iraqi police arrested them after arrival, and both remained in custody of Iraqi police for seven days. One passenger also claimed he had previously been deported from Turkey.
The FIA has referred the case to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Multan for further investigation.
