The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) by Rs13 per kilogram, taking the price for August to Rs254 per kg.
According to details, OGRA issued a notification announcing the increase in LPG prices, adding to the burden on inflation-hit consumers.
As per the notification, the LPG price has been raised from Rs241 to Rs254 per kilogram. Following the increase, the price of a domestic LPG cylinder has risen from Rs2,849 to Rs3,001, while the price of a commercial cylinder has increased from Rs10,961 to Rs11,546.
The new prices will come into effect from midnight on August 1.
Chairman of the LPG Industries Association Pakistan, Irfan Khokhar, urged the government to provide relief to inflation-affected citizens and ensure the availability of LPG at official rates.
Khokhar appealed to the government, the Ministry of Petroleum and OGRA to direct state-owned LPG companies to ensure equal distribution of LPG among licensed marketing companies.
He said the move would help curb black marketing and profiteering while making LPG more affordable for consumers.
