Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has strongly rejected allegations made by former National Assembly member Ayesha Gulalai Wazir against party chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, with senior party leader Shahida Akhtar Ali dismissing the claims as false and politically motivated.
Responding to Gulalai’s remarks, Shahida Akhtar Ali condemned the allegations in strong terms and defended Fazlur Rehman, saying his political and religious life has been marked by public service and devotion.
She described the accusations as fabricated and without factual basis.
During her response, Shahida Akhtar Ali also made personal remarks about Gulalai, including comments about her gender identity and mental state.
Earlier, Ayesha Gulalai had released a video statement in which she levelled several serious allegations against the JUI-F chief. Among other claims, she alleged that Fazlur Rehman was supporting the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and called on the government to arrest him.
JUI-F has categorically denied the allegations, with Shahida Akhtar Ali stating that the party rejects the claims in their entirety.
