SARGODHA: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly buried alive in Sargodha after he complained about sexual abuse, police say.
Officials say the boy was assaulted and when he reported it, influential suspects tried to silence him by burying him alive in a field. People working nearby heard crying from under the soil and alerted police.
Police reached the spot and dug the boy out. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.
After regaining consciousness, the boy told police what happened. He named a man, Qamar, as the one who assaulted him. When he complained to Qamar’s elder brother, three men beat him badly and buried him alive, he said.
Sargodha police arrested Qamar, the main suspect. Two others, Amjad and Waris, were picked up a day earlier. All three are now in custody and being questioned, police added.
Authorities say the assault claim has been made by the boy’s family, and an investigation is under way to bring those involved to court.
